FAQs about Royal Caribbean Cruises
Given the events over the last few years, having the proper travel documents has been a considerable concern of many guests prior to enjoying a carefree vacation. Passport, visa and inoculation regulations may vary by destination and may change from time to time. For your protection, your passport expiration date needs to be at least six (6) months after the sailing termination date. It is the sole responsibility of the guest to obtain and have available when necessary the appropriate valid travel and health documents such as passports, visas, vaccination certificates, etc., that are necessary for air travel, disembarkation at the various ports of call and re-entry into the appropriate country of origin.
Visa
Based on nationality, many countries still require an entry visa. It is the guests’ responsibility to identify and to obtain all the necessary visas before commencing their cruise.
For Cambodia and Vietnam
All nationalities require visas for Vietnam with the following exceptions: Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines, Japan, Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway.
All nationalities require visas for Cambodia with the following exceptions: Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines and Laos.
Please Note: The following nationalities will find it extremely difficult to secure a visa for Vietnam and Cambodia, whether through us or by themselves; Pakistan, North Korea, Afghanistan, Iraq and Nigeria.
Inoculation/Health
We recommend that all guests, regardless of their sailing date check with their health care professional or a Travel Medicine Specialist certified by the WHO for guidance. Other informational resources can be accessed at the Centers for Disease Control Traveler’s Health website.
As detailed in our brochure, all guests must ensure that they are medically and physically fit for travel. The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization website. (WHO) provide guidelines as to which vaccinations are required in each country. In many cases inoculations are recommended, but in some circumstances they are required.
Please remember to bring your passport with you, as well as any other required documents your cruise confirmation email requests. Make sure to have your documents handy in your carry-on bag for easy access. We ask that guests do not pack passports and other required documents in checked bags, as failure to show these documents may result in denial of boarding.
When you’re onboard, the right look will vary by venue, time of day, and activity. Here are a few types of suggested attire you’ll see, and some recommendations for what to bring:
Daytime: Casual
You’re on vacation – relax! Jeans, polos, sundresses, and blouses are all the right amount of laid back. Shorts are welcomed for breakfast and lunch, but please keep swimwear to the pool deck.
Evening: Smart Casual
Think of this as a step up from your typical dinner wear. Dress to impress with collared shirts, dresses, skirts, and blouses, or pantsuits. Jackets, sport coats, and blazers are snazzy and welcomed.
Additional items we recommend packing include:
Medications including motion sickness care
- Walking shoes
- Hat, sunglasses
- Scarf or wrap to cover bare legs and shoulders inside museums and religious sites
- Travel umbrella/rain jacket
- Warm clothes
- Power adapter (without a surge protector)
- Insect repellent
- Lightweight collapsible backpack
- Swimsuit, coverup
- Sandals
- Eco-friendly/biodegradable sunscreen, after-sun lotion
- Active attire
- Light jacket or wrap
- Chargers, headphones, etc.
If you are planning to check in your bag to have it delivered to your stateroom, we recommend packing a small bag of essentials to carry onboard. This bag should include: travel documents, medications, swimsuit, coverup, change of clothes, and sunscreen.
Feel free to leave the following items behind as they will be available onboard to use at no charge: pool towels (which can be used in port), soap, shampoo, and hair dryers.
Prohibited items:
Weapons, illegal drugs, and other items that could interfere with the safe operation of the ship or the safe and secure environment of our guests and crew are prohibited. These and other similar items will be confiscated upon being found:
- Weapons and drugs: Firearms, ammunition (including realistic replicas), sharp objects, including all knives and scissors, (personal grooming items such as safety razors or scissors with blades length less than 4 inches are allowed), illegal drugs/substances, and CBD oil/CBD products.
- Items that generate heat or produce an open flame: Electrical extension cords, coffee makers, clothing irons, steamers, hot plates, candles, incense, torch or novelty lighters (matches and traditional lighters are allowed), flammable liquids, explosives, fireworks, hookahs/water hookah pipes, and any other item that may create a fire hazard. The only exceptions to this policy are curling irons and hair straighteners.
- Sports gear, and self-defence items: Handcuffs, pepper spray, nightsticks, martial arts items, and hoverboards. Exceptions can be made for the following sporting goods, however, the item must be stored in the guest’s stateroom and cannot be used onboard: baseball bats, hockey sticks, cricket bats, golf clubs, skateboards, surfboards, and bicycles.
- Radio devices: HAM radios and baby monitors. Two-way radios/walkie-talkies are permitted. Basic specifications are as follows: up to 10-mile coverage range, up to 5 watts power, internal voice, operated transmission, no external mounting antenna.
- Dangerous chemicals: Including bleach, paint and other flammable liquids.
- Alcoholic beverages: On boarding day, guests may bring one (1) 750 mL bottle, per adult of drinking age, per sailing. Guests who purchase alcohol bottles onboard or in port, will have their items safely stored by the ship. These bottles will be returned on the last day of the sailing to be enjoyed back home. Alcoholic beverages seized on embarkation day will not be returned.
